Turning ideas into action through collaborative workshops

Throughout the three days, partners took part in a series of interactive workshops exploring different aspects of the BRICKS approach:

  • Co-creating the Research & Innovation Framework: Partners explored how to bring together different perspectives, tools and methods to develop a common approach that responds to the needs of the five pilots.
  • Sparking the co-design festival season to launch Place-Based Innovation Labs: Focusing on the upcoming activities in the pilot neighbourhoods, partners worked together to refine their plans for engaging local communities and co-designing solutions.
  • Doing, Learning, Doing Again, Learning Again: This session explored how partners can learn from one another, share experiences and continuously improve their approaches throughout the project.
  • Setting the ground for monitoring and impact assessment: Pilot representatives worked together to identify the changes they want to achieve in their neighbourhoods and explore how to measure progress and impact.
  • Mapping pilots’ challenges and barriers: Partners reflected on the challenges that could emerge across the five pilots, identifying common obstacles and opportunities to address them collectively.
  • Collaborative stakeholder mapping: Working closely with pilot representatives, partners identified key local and European stakeholders to involve in the project and discussed how to build meaningful connections.

Together, these sessions helped connect the expertise of the consortium with the needs and ambitions of each pilot neighbourhood, laying the groundwork for the next stages of the project.

Putting neighbourhoods and communities first

Throughout the meeting, a common priority emerged: putting neighbourhoods and their communities first.

Guided by the values of the New European Bauhaus (NEB), BRICKS aims to foster inclusive, sustainable and beautiful neighbourhoods by empowering local communities to actively shape their future.

With a shared direction and the first steps towards local implementation taking shape, the consortium is now ready to turn these initial discussions into action!

BRICKS prepares training programme on New European Bauhaus values for its pilot coalitions

How can we turn the values of the New European Bauhaus into concrete actions that benefit local communities? This is one of the questions at the heart of a new series of internal training sessions being organised by BRICKS for its five pilot coalitions in Aberdeen, Cluj-Napoca, Marseille, Tallinn and Valladolid. Following the first in-person consortium meeting in Milan, BRICKS partners identified the importance of building a shared understanding of the concepts and approaches that will guide the project, starting with the New European Bauhaus.
